Changing a document template is no different from editing a normal document. You open the template, make your changes and save the document template.

Important: Of course, changing a document template will affect all documents that are subsequently created on the basis of this template.

To change a document template, proceed as follows:

1.Choose the ribbon command File | Open (click directly on the icon itself).
2.Select Template from the dropdown list of file types.
3.Select the template to be changed and confirm that it has been opened.
4.Make the desired changes to the text or to the character and paragraph styles.
5.Choose the ribbon command File | Save to save the changed template.

Of course, you could also save the template under a different name via the ribbon command File | Save as if you did not want to overwrite the original template.
